DHAKA, BANGLADESH — On April 29, 2026, the International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) and the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) Bangladesh formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This strategic alliance bridges the gap between local academic potential and the global venture capital ecosystem, transforming the university into a primary incubator for international-grade startups.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of Prof. Dr. Abdur Rab, Honorable Vice Chancellor; Prof. Dr. M. Mahmudur Rahman, Pro Vice Chancellor; Dr. Momtazur Rahman, Registrar; and Dr. Sajal Saha, Director of Miyan Research Institute, along with other distinguished guests, faculty members and officials. Dr. Nayem Hossain joined the occasion as an honorary guarantor.

Cultivating Problem Solvers Over Problem Identifiers

The partnership officially integrates IUBAT into a worldwide network designed to support innovators regardless of their geographic location. During the formal signing ceremony, the Honorable Vice Chancellor of IUBAT emphasized that the ability to innovate does not depend on one's level of formal education, IQ, or CGPA.

  • He asserted that true innovation relies on the drive to create unique solutions for economic, social, or health problems.
  • The Vice Chancellor encouraged students to adopt an "angel investor" mindset, noting that real-world success often follows a high-risk "one out of five" success rate.
  • Under the leadership of Professor Naim, the initiative will focus on reuniting "lost" innovators with new talent to refine dormant projects into marketable business ventures.

Connecting Local Talent to Global Capital

The formalization of this relationship provides IUBAT students with critical entrepreneurial resources. Dr. K.M. Hasan Ripon, Managing Director of GEN Bangladesh, highlighted that true entrepreneurs are problem solvers who recognize opportunities in crises.

  • Through GEN, students gain direct access to a network of over 4,500 global angel investors through the Global Business Angel Network (GBAN).
  • The partnership connects the IUBAT community to major international platforms, including Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) and the Global Entrepreneurship Congress (GEC).
  • GEN Bangladesh recently secured the "Best Country Award" at the GEC, outperforming established ecosystems like Canada and India, setting a highly competitive stage for local talent.
