Women Entrepreneurs Shine at the Closing Ceremony of Global Entrepreneurship Week 2023

The Women Entrepreneurs Day, followed by the Closing Ceremony of Global Entrepreneurship Week 2023, held on November 18, 2023, at Daffodil Plaza (RoofTop Green Garden), Dhaka, was a resounding success. This event was a joint effort by Bangladesh Open Source Network (BdOSN) and Global Entrepreneurship Network Bangladesh, with the Department of Innovation and Entrepreneurship of Daffodil International University playing a crucial role. Co-organizers included Shahoshika, Chakri Korbo Na Debo, MIDAS, and the Bangladesh Skill Development Institute.

The event witnessed an impressive turnout of over 600 women entrepreneurs who gathered for a day of networking and celebration.

Mr. Joseph Giblin, Chief of the Economic Unit at the US Embassy in Dhaka, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Dr. Mohammad Nuruzzaman, CEO of Daffodil Family, and Mr. K M Hasan Ripon, National Host of Global Entrepreneurship Week, were among the distinguished Special Guests. Mr. Kamruzzaman Didar, Head of the Entrepreneurship Department at DIU, also honored the event with his presence. The program was efficiently chaired by Munir Hasan, General Secretary of BdOSN.

The primary objective of the program was to celebrate the incredible entrepreneurial journeys of women entrepreneurs in Bangladesh and provide them with a platform to promote their businesses.

Global Entrepreneurship Week 2023 in Bangladesh was celebrated with immense enthusiasm. A total of 78 partner organizations hosted 200 events and activities across the country, spanning 8 divisions and 30 districts. These partner organizations included educational institutions, chambers of commerce, associations, youth-led organizations, government agencies, and international organizations.

It is estimated that directly 100,000 individuals and over 3 Million Youth through digital media, including youth, business leaders, aspiring and existing entrepreneurs, and startups, participated in these events, making it a remarkable celebration of entrepreneurship in the country.

It should be mentioned that the Department of Innovation and Entrepreneurship of Daffodil International University is the National Host Organization of Global Entrepreneurship Week in Bangladesh.
