The following is a press release issued by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Employment, Royal Government of Bhutan
The Department of Employment and Entrepreneurship under the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Employment marked the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) 2023 today at the Startup Centre, Thimphu. The event was graced by the Director General of the Department. The officials from the Department joined by Entrepreneurs came together to celebrate the GEW.
GEW is the initiative of the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation which started in 2008, aimed to inspire and connect aspiring entrepreneurs worldwide. Since then, the initiative has grown exponentially, gaining participation from over 200 countries.
Similarly, in our context, the celebration of GEW takes on even greater significance as it seamlessly aligns with the Department's steadfast commitment for nurturing and promoting a thriving entrepreneurial ecosystem in the country.
During the celebration, entrepreneurs were given opportunity to share their entrepreneurial journey. Each of their ventures narrated the story of courage, resilience, ambition, and the relentless pursuit of dreams despite multiple challenges. This has provided them with a platform to reflect on their achievements and the distance they've covered in pursuit of their dreams.
During that, management had a networking session with the entrepreneurs, providing them with an opportunity to voice their feedback, share challenges, and express grievances. The session allowed the department to gain valuable insights, ensuring that the challenges faced by entrepreneurs are duly addressed.
To commemorate the week, flower plantation was carried out.
