This year, 2022, GEN Cambodia celebrated GEW Cambodia in conjunction with the country ASEAN Chairmanship. This is the biggest event we had hosted so far since started in 2011 in Cambodia. GEN Cambodia, in partnership with the Young Entrepreneurs Association of Cambodia as Chair of the ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs Council 2022 and ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC) hosted the 7th ASEAN Young Entrepreneurs Carnival on 12-13 November 2022 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia in parallel with ASEAN Summit, Cambodia Tech Expo (CTX), and also in celebration of GEW Cambodia 2022. It gathered around 30 Speakers and Moderators from both public and private sector and welcoming more than 400 local and international delegates (mostly entrepreneurs). The entire program featured special remarks, 2 keynote addresses, 3 panel discussion, a talk show, 3 receptions, and award handover ceremony.
Breakout of Covid-19 caused a huge impact to the global economy. “RISE STRONGER TOGETHER” is a special theme using to promote young entrepreneurs to overcome the disruptions brought by Covid-19 through digitalization, leadership, collaboration and inclusive involvement of women to address the grand challenges and adapt to the new context of problem which can turbulence the economy in the future. This theme also helps fostering deeper cross border collaboration and initiative between entrepreneurs, investors or start-up business to overcome this challenge and rise again stronger than before.
The one-and-a half day program contained special remarks, keynote addresses, and panel discussion as following:
- Harnessing Access to Finance for MSMEs for shared growth
- Digitalization for SMEs
- Digitalize MSMEs including digital skills across ASEAN
- Harmonization of practices in Trade Facilitation: Lawmaker’s Perspectives
- Trade Facilitation and Coordination beyond ASEAN.
GEW Cambodia 2022 gathered in total almost 500 people including international and national delegates, speakers and moderators. Honorable guests included:
- Secretary of State from the Ministry of Industry Science Technology and Innovation – H.E.Dr. Kan Channmeta
- H.E. HUN MANY, Chairman of the Commission on Education, Youth, Sport, Cult, Religious Affairs, Culture and Tourism (Commission 7) of the National Assembly and President of the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia.
- H. E. DR. ING KANTHA PHAVI, Minister of Women's Affairs
- H.E. SUOS YARA, Chairman of the Commission on Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, Information and Media of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and Director General of Asian Cultural Council
And honor participants from various countries who participated this event gained insightful knowledge in seeking growing their business stronger because AYEC 2022 selected most challenges that MSMEs challenge with and try to address this issue by keynoted addresses and panel discussions. GEN as a partnership with organizer also help contribute business in ecosystem way to promote MSMES and scale a business effectiveness and bring prosperity for the economic within the region and across the border.
