Cameroon Celebrates Artisan Excellence with the Central Africa Cabinetmaker Grand Prize
On Wednesday, 5 November 2025, a significant event took place in Cameroon: the Technical Advisor No. 1, acting on instructions from the Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises, Social Economy, and Handicrafts (PMEESA), received a delegation from the Cameroon Federation of Associations and Professionals in Secondary Wood Processing (FECAPROBOIS).
The meeting highlighted the presentation of the winners of the “Central Africa Cabinetmaker Grand Prize,” a prestigious competition recognizing top talent in woodworking across the region. Cameroon proudly celebrated its young artisans who represented the nation with distinction on the international stage.

Mr. Yochoum Nya Carmel, First Prize and Gold Medalist
Mr. Atangana Etele Engelbert, Third Prize and Bronze Medalist
These awards reflect the skill, creativity, and dedication of these young artisans, demonstrating their ability to compete at the highest level in Central Africa.
During the audience, Madame Menanga Abondo, speaking on behalf of the Minister, praised this remarkable achievement and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting and mentoring these artisans in their pursuit of excellence. She emphasized the strategic role of craftsmanship in preserving cultural heritage, promoting sustainable development, and creating employment opportunities in Cameroon.
The Ministry is determined to implement measures for training, guidance, and promotion, ensuring Cameroonian artisans not only excel locally but also gain international recognition.
