COMMUNICATIONS INTERN

 

The Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) is looking for a skilled digital communications intern to join us for an eight-week internship this fall. If you are passionate about writing engaging content, building community and connecting with global audiences, we want to hear from you.    

 

Responsibilities may include: 

  • Writing & Editing: Create and copy-edit first-class content for the GEN website.  

  • Audio/Visual Storytelling: Create and edit engaging videos and graphics.  

  • Content Promotion: Write compelling social media posts and e-newsletters. 

  • Media & Influencer Relations: Monitor and compile news clips. Build media and influencer lists.  

 

We want to work with you if you: 

  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Work efficiently with fast-moving, remote and deadline-driven teams.  

  • Pay meticulous attention to detail, grammar and spelling.  

  • Know best practices for building community on social media.  

  • Are skilled using Canva, YouTube, iMovie and Hootsuite to create engaging content (bonus is you are familiar with Adobe Creative Suite). 

  • Are a current college/university student or recent graduate (bonus if your degree is in journalism or PR). 

  • Are interested in entrepreneurship, innovation and small business (bonus if you read sites like Tech Crunch, Fast Company, Inc, and Entrepreneur, etc. 

  • Are able to join us for a minimum of 8 weeks starting in September 2021.  

 

Timeframe 

GEN accepts interns on a rolling basis. Interns are expected to stay a minimum of eight (8) weeks with start and end dates flexible throughout the year. 10-40 hours per week are preferred. 

 

Compensation 

GEN is unable to offer compensation for its internships but is willing to work with students to obtain academic credit.

PROJECT ASSOCIATE

 

The Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) seeks interns to work on programs to support healthier entrepreneurial ecosystems around the world in more than 170 countries. Interns will have the opportunity to learn about every facet of the GEN organization and work with staff members located around the world.

 

Responsibilities may include:

  • Researching startup ecosystems and environments for entrepreneurs in select countries.

  • Supporting operations for the Entrepreneurship World Cup; interfacing with entrepreneurship ecosystem builders around the world.

  • Communications and social media support for GEN and its programs. 

  • Preparing and supporting teams on the ground for Global Entrepreneurship Week, GEN's week-long signature celebration in November.

  • Aiding in outreach and community building for GEW USA.

  • Event management support for the Global Entrepreneurship Congress and other events.

  • Helping develop & brainstorm strategies for new projects and programs.

  • Helping increase awareness and reach of the GEN brand.

 

We want to work with you if you:

  • Are a current college student or recent graduate with strong academic record.

  • Are passionate about entrepreneurship.

  • Have strong writing skills and attention to detail.

  • Are an independent worker, effective communicator.

  • Have strong cultural and interpersonal skills for working with international team members.
