From November 18 to 22, 2024, the Chad Innovation Hub in N’Djamena buzzed with creativity and learning during Global Entrepreneurship Week. Through the Creative Entrepreneurship Support Program, 20 creative entrepreneurs and 10 Business Support Organizations (BSOs) came together for hands-on training designed to boost Chad’s entrepreneurial community. Supported by StartupBlink and funded by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency, the program provided tools, expert coaching, and practical strategies to build a stronger creative economy.
The mission was simple: help participants create scalable business ideas, improve their digital presence, and develop strategies for sustainable growth. In just five days, innovative ideas were transformed into actionable plans that left a lasting impact.
The week kicked off with training on the Business Model Canvas (BMC). This tool helps businesses understand their customers, define their value, and figure out how to generate revenue. Entrepreneurs and BSOs worked together to map out business models, setting a strong foundation for the week. Next, participants dove into market research, learning how to analyze customer needs and validate their ideas.
These sessions stressed the importance of data in creating successful businesses. Midweek, the focus shifted to digital branding and online visibility. Using simple tools like Canva for graphic design and Google My Business for local SEO, participants learned to build professional-looking brands and improve their online presence. These skills made it easier for entrepreneurs to connect with customers both locally and globally.
A highlight of the program was the prototyping workshop, where participants turned their business ideas into tangible products or services. With personalized feedback, they designed prototypes that reflected their unique value and incorporated branding strategies they had just learned.
The week wrapped up with pitching and selling strategies. Entrepreneurs refined their presentation skills to deliver compelling business pitches. On the final day, they presented their ideas and prototypes to a panel of experts, gaining valuable feedback and boosting their confidence.
Collaboration was at the heart of this program. BSOs acted as mentors, guiding the entrepreneurs and helping them navigate challenges. This team effort highlighted the importance of supporting one another to grow Chad’s business ecosystem. The program introduced practical tools like Canva and Google My Business to give participants accessible solutions for building their digital presence. These tools helped them stand out in the market and attract more customers.
The support of StartupBlink and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency brought a global perspective to the program. International collaboration added value, helping Chad’s entrepreneurs compete not only locally but also on a global scale.
For the participants, this program wasn’t just about learning—it was a game-changer. Entrepreneurs left with clear business plans, ready-to-test prototypes, and confidence to grow their ventures. The final pitch day showcased their transformation as they impressed the expert panel with their ideas.
BSOs also gained valuable insights into the struggles of creative businesses. This experience equipped them to provide better support and strengthen Chad’s creative economy. The impact of the program goes beyond individual participants. By empowering entrepreneurs with skills and strategies, it contributes to job creation, economic growth, and a more dynamic creative economy.
As Global Entrepreneurship Week 2024 comes to an end, the effects of this program reached far beyond the Chad Innovation Hub. Armed with new skills, strategies, and prototypes, these entrepreneurs are ready to innovate and drive Chad’s economy forward.
The program’s success proved the value of collaboration among entrepreneurs, mentors, and international partners. Together, they’ve set the stage for a sustainable and inclusive economy.
Looking ahead, the Chad Innovation Hub and its partners will continue supporting these entrepreneurs with mentorship, resources, and opportunities. Chad’s entrepreneurial community is poised for incredible growth.
