Aleta Wondo Grand #GEW2024Ethiopia Celebration

The grand event, held as part of the Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) celebrations on November 22, 2024, took place in the Sidama Region, Aleta Wondo Town, at the Aleta Wondo Polytechnic College’s grand hall. This significant occasion brought together a diverse group of participants, including the college’s higher officials, academic staff, and administrative personnel. The event saw a total attendance of 101 individuals, with a gender composition of 72 male and 29 female participants, highlighting the institution's commitment to inclusiveness and broad participation in fostering entrepreneurial dialogue.

The centerpiece of the event was a series of inspirational speeches aimed at cultivating an entrepreneurial mindset. These were delivered by the college dean and a representative from the Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI). The speeches underscored the importance of critical entrepreneurial traits such as innovation, resilience, and creativity—core elements that resonate with the global theme of GEW, which seeks to inspire and empower individuals to explore entrepreneurial opportunities and make meaningful contributions to their communities.

Furthermore, the event featured engaging discussions among the college staff, who unanimously committed to steering the institution toward becoming a model entrepreneurial Technical and Vocational Training (TVT) center. This ambitious vision reflects the overarching goals of GEW, which advocate for building entrepreneurial ecosystems that drive sustainable development and economic progress.

The event on 22 November 2024 not only celebrated entrepreneurship but also marked a pivotal step in embedding an entrepreneurial culture within the college, inspiring its stakeholders to play an active role in fostering innovation and addressing socioeconomic challenges both locally and nationally.
