Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) organized a Panel Discussion on Inclusive Entrepreneurship and Entrepreneurs' Expo on Nov 21, 2024 at Janmeda Hall, Best Western Plus, Addis Ababa. CIPE partnered with Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE) and Ethiopian Youth Entrepreneurs Association (EYEA) to make this event come true. The purpose of the discussion was to promote entrepreneurship and support startups by providing a platform for networking and knowledge sharing. It aimed to foster innovation through discussions on the intersection of entrepreneurship and innovation, to enhance digital inclusion in entrepreneurship by exploring the role of technology, to provide exposure to media, mentors, and training opportunities for participating entrepreneurs and startups, and to facilitate networking among entrepreneurs, youth, and industry experts to build valuable connections and collaborations. These goals were designed to create a supportive environment for emerging businesses and to inspire innovative thinking within the entrepreneurial community.

The panel hosted a mix of participants which helped create a dynamic and engaging environment for networking and knowledge sharing during the event. Our partner: the Ethiopian Youth Entrepreneurs Association (EYEA), entrepreneurs and startups, youth, industry experts and panelists who were carefully selected for their expertise, and individuals from the general public interested in entrepreneurship and innovation, who were looking to gain insights and make connections, attended the event.

 Key results:

Fozia Mohammed, the Membership Engagement Manager of the Ethiopian Youth Entrepreneurs Association (EYEA), successfully engaged several non-member startups, informing them about the association's activities and the benefits of membership. Additionally, the event provided an excellent opportunity to document participating member startups and promote their products on EYEA's social media. The structure of the panel discussion was praised for its clarity and logic, with most participants rating it as 4 or 5, indicating that the flow and organization were well-received. The expo was successful in showcasing new technologies and innovations, with many participants rating this aspect as very effective. Specific exhibits, such as the electric wheelchair, stood out to attendees. Many participants were satisfied with the networking opportunities provided, and several made valuable connections during the event.
