The Customized Entrepreneurship Training Workshop (CETW) at Jinka

The Customized Entrepreneurship Training Workshop (CETW) is a focused two-day initiative designed to empower women entrepreneurs, especially those with limited business experience or at the beginning stages of their entrepreneurial journey. Organized by the Ethiopian Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI), the training took place at Jinka Polytechnic College from October 20–21, 2024. The program aimed to equip participants with foundational entrepreneurial skills, including goal setting, strategic planning, idea generation, and networking, while addressing the unique challenges faced by women in business.

The workshop engaged 49 female participants through interactive and practical sessions, emphasizing personal responsibility, confidence-building, and assertiveness as vital components of entrepreneurial success. Facilitated by two certified EDI trainers, the sessions employed illustrative teaching techniques to explore business creation strategies and entrepreneurial mindset development.

The program commenced with an opening speech by Mr. Gezahagn Gesese, highlighting the transformative role of entrepreneurship in driving individual and economic growth. Throughout the training, participants actively contributed, freely expressing their ideas and exploring actionable insights for starting and sustaining businesses. The event concluded with inspiring remarks from Mr. Gezahagn, who encouraged participants to seize untapped business opportunities and take proactive steps toward their entrepreneurial aspirations.

The facilitators praised the participants’ enthusiasm and commitment, observing a strong inclination among them to establish their own businesses following the training. Appreciation was extended to EDI, Jinka Polytechnic College, the local enterprise office, and the MasterCard Foundation for their critical roles in making the program a success.
