As part of the Global Entrepreneurship Week #GEW2024Ethiopia celebrations, a customized entrepreneurship training workshop was conducted on 18 November 2024 at Aleta Wondo Polytechnic College. This transformative program was delivered to 30 women, equipping them with essential skills and knowledge to start and manage their businesses. Facilitated by Biniyam Shiferaw and Abebe Getu, the training embodied GEW’s mission to inspire entrepreneurial spirit and strengthen grassroots capacity for economic empowerment.

The training introduced foundational entrepreneurial concepts, such as Internal and External Locus of Control and Goal Setting, to help participants develop the mindset needed for business success. Through interactive sessions, the women brainstormed business ideas tailored to their interests and the needs of local markets, reflecting GEW's focus on creativity and practical, market-driven solutions.

Key elements of the program emphasized networking and building strong support systems. Practical workshops, including the Saw Dust Exercise, Opportunity Seeking, and Resource Identification, provided participants with actionable tools to identify and capitalize on business opportunities. Group projects encouraged collaboration and hands-on application of concepts, fostering teamwork and peer learning.

This GEW-aligned initiative equipped the women with critical entrepreneurial skills and built a sense of community and shared ambition. Feedback highlighted increased confidence among participants in launching and sustaining businesses. Follow-up sessions are planned to provide mentorship and ensure long-term impact, aligning with GEW’s vision of fostering sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystems and driving economic growth.
