EBMS training at Shey Bench Secondary School in Ciez City Administration,Southwest Ethiopia
The Entrepreneurship and Business Management Skills (EBMS) training program took place from November 18 to 21, 2024, at Shey Bench Secondary School in Ciez City Administration, located in Southwest Ethiopia. The program was designed for 40 youth participants (21 males and 19 females), focusing on unemployed individuals who are planning to launch their own businesses. Over four days, the training aimed to empower participants by instilling an entrepreneurial mindset and equipping them with critical business startup skills.
The training introduced participants to the fundamental principles of entrepreneurship, such as generating business ideas, identifying opportunities, and creating business plans. It also emphasized the importance of adopting a positive mindset as a foundation for success in both personal and entrepreneurial endeavors. By showcasing the characteristics of successful entrepreneurs and internationally recognized entrepreneurial competencies, the program demonstrated that entrepreneurship is a skill that can be learned and developed. Participants were guided to explore their ideas and transform them into actionable business opportunities, laying the groundwork for their entrepreneurial ventures.
The program culminated with a certificate award ceremony, where the city manager addressed the participants. He commended their commitment and highlighted the training's role in addressing unemployment in Ethiopia by fostering self-reliance and job creation. He also acknowledged the support of the Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI), trainers, and stakeholders in making the program a success.
The EBMS training has been a pivotal initiative in empowering young people to contribute to the economic development of their communities. By inspiring innovation and providing practical tools for business creation, the program has taken a significant step toward addressing unemployment and promoting sustainable livelihoods.
