Catalyzing Grassroots Womens Entrepreneurship: A Reflective Discussion on Barriers, Support, and Motivation

A grassroots community dialogue was organized to engage women entrepreneurs and aspiring business owners at the last-mile level. The session brought together women from rural villages and small townsmany running micro and small enterprises, others preparing to start their first businessto openly discuss the challenges they face in launching and expanding their ventures. Participants highlighted barriers such as limited access to finance, weak market linkages, inadequate business information, and competing social and household responsibilities. Through the facilitated conversation, they identified practical, locally rooted solutions and shared lived experiences that reflect the realities of rural entrepreneurship. The session also introduced participants to available opportunities and support mechanisms, including alternative financing options, community-based savings groups, and public and NGO programs designed to ease startup constraints. Overall, the dialogue aimed to empower grassroots women entrepreneurs, strengthen their confidence, and encourage them to leverage entrepreneurship as a pathway to income generation, self-reliance, and improved livelihoods.
