EDI Tigray Regional Office, Officially launches GEW 2025 by conducting Grand Opening Ceremony in Mekelle Nov 17, 2025 **************** The Grand Opening ceremony of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) 2025 was successfully conducted today in Tigray, officially marking the launch of this year’s nationwide celebration. Organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI), the event brought together higher officials from the Tigray Interim Administration, representatives from government offices (GOs), NGOs, development partners, and various media outlets. Participants actively engaged and shared valuable insights on strengthening the region’s entrepreneurship ecosystem and promoting coordinated support for startups and MSMEs. The program began with guest arrival, registration, and networking, followed by a moment of honoring the Martyrs. A GEW promotional video introduced the global initiative and its impact. Mr. Dagmawi Yohannes Regional coordinator of EDI delivered the welcome address, setting the tone for the celebration. Keynote and opening remarks were provided by Mr Alem, emphasizing the importance of revitalizing Tigray’s entrepreneurial landscape. A major highlight of the event was the official launch of GEW Ethiopia 2025, marked by a ceremonial ribbon cutting, followed by a guided visit to an SME showcase featuring innovative local enterprises. After a short tea break, the program continued with Presentation by Mr Haftu (EDI ) and a panel discussion on “Rebuilding Tigray's Entrepreneurship Ecosystem: A Six-Domain Approach to Tigray's Startup Ecosystem.” The session, moderated by Mr. Alem, Mr. Dagmawi Yohannes and Mr. Haftu provided deep insights into ecosystem rebuilding strategies, challenges, and opportunities. The event concluded with wrap-up remarks from Moderators who appreciated the contributions of all stakeholders and reaffirmed EDI’s commitment to empowering entrepreneurs in Tigray.
