Grassroots Conversation on Youth Productivity and Entrepreneurship

A grassroots discussion was held to examine how entrepreneurship can address social and economic challenges and improve productivity within local communities. The session brought together youth, women, and grassroots community leaders, creating a platform for open reflection on the role of entrepreneurship in driving change. The dialogue aimed to shift mindsets�especially among young people�toward using their time, skills, and energy more productively. Participants recognized that Ethiopia�s current socio-economic challenges require new approaches and agreed that entrepreneurship offers a practical pathway to economic independence, innovation, and community resilience. Women and youth shared personal experiences and highlighted barriers such as limited opportunities, lack of mentorship, and insufficient access to resources. Community leaders emphasized the need for local structures to help cultivate a spirit of creativity, problem-solving, and disciplined work among the youth. The discussion underscored that entrepreneurship is not only an economic tool but also a means to transform attitudes, encourage initiative, and strengthen self-reliance. Participants concluded with a shared commitment to continue promoting grassroots awareness and encouraging young people to embrace entrepreneurship as a viable route to improved livelihoods and productivity. This GEW activity reinforces the national goal of expanding entrepreneurship from the ground up, ensuring that transformation begins in local communities and among the people who are central to Ethiopia�s future.
