As part of the Global Entrepreneurship Week celebration, a panel discussion titled “How Agriculture Experts Can Turn Problems into Opportunities” was held with agricultural extension experts from various regions of Ethiopia. The session began with a warm welcome by Gezehagn Gesese, who invited Mrs. Tsigereda W/Michael (EDI south region training coordinator, Master Trainer, BDS advisor, Consultant, and Lecturer at) to officially open the discussion. She highlighted existing entrepreneurial opportunities for youth and women, emphasizing the need for innovative agribusiness models beyond traditional practices. The host (Mr. Gezehagn Gesese: Entrepreneurship National Trainer, Lecturer of Agribusiness and Value Management at Hawassa University) then delivered a PowerPoint presentation on coping with climate challenges, enhancing food security, and addressing unemployment through entrepreneurial approaches. Participants explored the guiding question, “What local frustrations could be the seed of your next big idea?” and raised key issues such as the need to view agriculture as a viable business for youth, the dominance of eucalyptus in southern Ethiopia, persistent input supply shortages, and limited entrepreneurial awareness among farmers. Finally, Mrs. Tsigereda underlined the importance of personal responsibility-encouraging extension experts to contribute innovatively to agribusiness development a leader. The event successfully inspired participants to rethink challenges as opportunities for sustainable and impactful agricultural entrepreneurship.
