Women Entrepreneurs at the Grassroots: Challenges & Opportunities

community-level dialogue was organized to explore the challenges faced by women entrepreneurs and to motivate unemployed women to launch their own businesses. The session brought together women who are currently running micro and small enterprises, as well as young women aspiring to become entrepreneurs. During the discussion, participants reflected on the barriers that hinder women from starting and growing their businesses, including limited access to finance, inadequate market linkages, household responsibilities, and gaps in business knowledge. Through facilitated dialogue, the group identified practical solutions and shared experiences on how to overcome these obstacles. The conversation also generated concrete recommendations aimed at strengthening womens entrepreneurship in their respective villages and towns, with a focus on creating supportive local environments for sustainable growth. In addition, the participants received orientation on available opportunities designed to help new and existing women entrepreneurs. This included information on alternative financing mechanisms, savings and credit associations, government and NGO support programs, and other resources that can help them address startup capital constraints. The session aimed not only to highlight challenges but also to empower and encourage women to pursue entrepreneurship as a viable pathway for economic independence and improved livelihoods.
