Youth Advisor Group (YAG) for SEED project discussed GEW 2025 and Youth Empowerment

The Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) Tigray Regional ffice conducted a discussion session with SEED Project Youth Advisor Group (YAG) in Mekelle focusing on the overview of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW)-2025 and key challenges within the regional entrepreneurship ecosystem. The session explored issues such as stakeholder contributions, barriers young entrepreneurs face, and the underlying reasons driving youth migration. Participants emphasized the importance of collective responsibility, noting that all public servants—from leadership to grassroots levels—should receive entrepreneurship training to better support youth development. The discussion also highlighted the need to shape positive mindsets, strengthen capacity-building initiatives, and encourage families to support their children proactively while they are with them, rather than intervening only after illegal migration leads to hardship. The session concluded with a shared commitment to coordinated action that empowers youth and reduces the push factors for migration through entrepreneurship opportunities.
