Farming as a Business Training was delivered at Arsi Negelle

In order to ensure the inclusion of the displaced community in our services, Farming as a Business Training was delivered at Arsi Negelle was delivered for 371 farmers at Arsi Negelle Town Administration Halls, Arsi Negelle town, Oromia Region, Ethiopia. The training at both towns was conducted from 17-19 November 2024. It was done in partnership with Ethiopia Roads Administration where the partner Organization is expected to supply them with various inputs as part of their compensation for being displaced due to the development project. 
The training was designed to equip farmers with essential entrepreneurial competencies and behaviors to enhance productivity and improve livelihood sustainability by efficiently using the compensations which is to be provided to them by the partner Organization, Ethiopian Roads Administration. 
Farmer trainees expressed high levels of satisfaction with the program. The following are the major testimonies among others raised by the trainees after the completion of the training: 
 

Testimony 1:
An elderly trainee shared a thought-provoking proverb during the session:
"A man married a woman but divorced her because she lacked skills. He married another, and she too was unskilled. This cycle repeated until he married nine women, all unskilled. Finally, he married a tenth woman who was highly skilled. Delighted by her wisdom, he asked her, 'Where were you with such knowledge while I was suffering?' The woman responded, 'Here I am.' In frustration, he lamented the wasted time and effort."
Turning to the trainers and the EDI team, the elderly man passionately added:
"Where were you with such valuable lessons when we wasted the millions of birr given to us by the government as part of the compensation for our displacement due to Mojo- Hawassa Highway Construction Project? If only we had received this training earlier, we wouldn’t have squandered those resources. You could have saved us from countless mistakes. Anyways, I am very confident that this training will completely change my life.’’
