GEW-2024: EDI-WEDP Empowers Women Entrepreneurs in Mekelle

The Ethiopian Development Institute’s Women Entrepreneurship Development Project (WEDP) in Mekelle City recently organized a comprehensive five-day training session on Basic Entrepreneurship, aligning with the celebration of Global Entrepreneurship Week 2024.
The training, delivered in collaboration with Mekelle Polytechnic College, was attended by 131 women entrepreneurs who are members of the WEDP. The program was designed to equip participants with essential knowledge and practical skills, covering topics such as business planning, financial management, marketing strategies, and effective communication.
The training not only focused on theoretical knowledge but also included interactive sessions, group discussions, and hands-on activities that encouraged collaboration and networking among participants. This approach allowed women to share their experiences, challenges, and successes in their entrepreneurial journeys.
As part of Global Entrepreneurship Week, the event highlighted the importance of entrepreneurship as a key driver of economic growth and job creation. The participants left the training with enhanced confidence and a clearer understanding of how to develop and manage their businesses effectively.
Overall, the training was a significant step towards empowering women in Mekelle, providing them with the tools they need to thrive in the competitive business landscape and contributing to the broader goals of economic development in the region. The second round of training is currently underway in Mekelle
