GEW 2024: - Recognition for Bruh-2024 National Award-Winning Innovators from Tigray Region
On November 16, 2024, Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) Tigray Regional Office in collaboration with the Tigray Regional Bureau of TVET and Job Creation organized a half a day recognition ceremony for the Bruh 2024 innovation competition award winning youths from the Tigray Region. The event’s was is to motivate the $2000 award-winning youth to take their innovation endeavors to the market exploitation level. In this event, 70 participants from Tigray regional Bureau of TVET and Job Creation, Representatives from Tigrary Bureau of Science and Technology, Success Life Skills Training Center, Memi Trading PLC and other players in the innovation and Entrepreneurship Ecosystem had attended it.
Mr. Dagmawi Yohannes, EDI Tigray Regional Coordinator welcomed the participants emphasizing the relevance of recognizing innovators and the role of innovation and Entrepreneurship in the post-war reconstruction of Tigray. Further, Mr. Gebremedhin, head of the Tigray Regional Bureau of TVET and Job Creation started his opening speech by congratulating the award-winning innovators. Besides, in his opening speech, Mr. Gebremedhin addressed the importance of investing in the innovation and Entrepreneurship Ecosystem building to create a vibrant and virile enterprises. He also stressed that the regional Bureau of TVET and Job Creation takes a lions share in this effort.
Following the welcoming and opening speeches, the award-winning innovators made a brief pitching on their ideas. Afterwards, Mr. Haftu Haile from EDI Tigray Regional Office made a fifteen minutes presentation on the topic ‘’What Makes Entrepreneurs Entrepreneurial: Effectuation Reasoning”. The main message of his presentation was that the innovators should start exploiting their ideas as early as possible with the means they have at hand. Along the way, they can attract self-selected partners and employ causal logic once they have managed partners’ commitments. Then, a certificate of recognition prepared by EDI and the Tigray regional Bureau of TVET and Job creation was given to the five Bruh-2024 innovation award-winners by Mr. Dagmawi and Mr. Gebremedhin. Finally, a traditional lunch was served to the participants.
