Business Idea Competition was Organized by BDU's Center of Excellence for Entrepreneurship (CoEE) on November 16, 2017 in which 11 projects (business ideas) have been contested. It was a very fruitful event where 27 members (students) have held fierce competition, hot discussion among other attendants and invited guests/participants and judges. Based on the innovativeness of the ideas, the potential impact on the communities, and the practicality of the ideas, the panel of judges have identified top three business ideas. Accordingly, the following winners were identified. The final selection was made for three top projects as follows:
Yinebebe Tamiru Gizaw, an Electrical Engineering student with a technology of Smart Assistant Stick and Visually Impaired People was selected as first runner while Ayalew Emiru, a Chemical Engineering student with the idea of producing building and construction materials using Waste Plastics was voted second runner. A team of students consisting of Ayalachew Dessie, Baye Mekonnen, and Bereket Assefa from Water Resources Management and Irrigation Department with the idea of producing Fixed Sprinkler for Irrigation System were ranked third. The winners were provided with certification of recognition and will further be supported by university’s CoEE to help them experiment with ideas.
