The Women Entrepreneurship Development Project(WEDP) concluded the training on its digital Project Management System(MIS)

The Women Entrepreneurship Development Project concluded the training on its digital project management system; the MIS. The training that was held in Bishoftu NOORA Resort in collaboration with EDI and the World Bank Group(WBG) included 40 participants from Siinqee Bank,  Wasasa Microfinance S.c., Dedebit Credit and saving Institutions S.C (DECSI), Amhara Credit and Saving Institutions S.C (ACSI), OMO Bank, Metemamen MFI, Meklit MFI, Vision Fund MFI , SIKET Bank, Aggar MFI, Harbu MFI, Liyu Microfinance Institution Sc, Buusaa Gonfa MFI, Sidama Bank SC, PEACE Microfinance Sc, Development Bank of Ethiopia (DBE), and ADEDAY Microfinances.

The Management Information System serves as the backbone of the project by fulfilling the need for real-time Monitoring and Evaluation data including Loan Disbursement, Member Registration and Training data. While concluding, the participants said that the training not only filled their technical knowledge gaps on the MIS but also served as a session to get to meet all the partner banks and Microfinances together and discuss on impacts of the project, the role the MFI and Banks’ are playing and the way forward.

The Women Entrepreneurship Development Project (WEDP) that 

The Women Entrepreneurship Development Project (WEDP) is a five time award winning and primarily a World Bank funded project that provides finance and business support for growth-oriented women entrepreneurs in Ethiopia. WEDP created the first ever women-entrepreneur focused line of credit in Africa in 2013. After fully disbursing its IDA commitment in two years, the project was expanded through co-financing from Japan, Italy, Canada, and the European Investment Bank. The WEDP line of credit is currently disbursing roughly $3 Million in loans and training roughly 600 entrepreneurs every month. The project is implemented by the Development Bank of Ethiopia (DBE) and the Ministry of Labor and Skills and is currently working with more than 14 participating microfinance institutions & banks and a network of training providers across the country.
