After leaving University, graduates can find themselves thrown in the deep end and thrust into a supervisory role when they might have little or no prior experience of managing staff.

This session offers an introduction to managing people, including some of the basic principles of performance management and a framework to help you get the best out of people.

During the session participants will:

- Reflect on your current understanding of the role of a manager.

- Be able to describe the different stages of a performance management cycle.

- Experiment with different management scenarios in a group setting.

- Recognise the importance of organisational policy when managing individuals and teams.
