Do I need to be the CEO or Executive Director of my organization?
No. While many Fellows will be CEOs, Executive Directors, or agency heads, applicants do not need to hold those specific titles.
What matters is that you have meaningful decision-making authority within your organization or ecosystem. We are looking for leaders who can apply what they learn, build partnerships, influence strategy, and help strengthen their organizations and entrepreneurial ecosystems.
Strong applicants will typically include:
- Executive Directors, CEOs, founders, and managing directors
- Heads of acceleration, incubation, investment, or innovation
- Senior leaders of entrepreneur support organizations (ESOs)
- Leaders of angel investor networks or investment programs
- Directors or senior officials leading entrepreneurship and innovation initiatives within government or economic development agencies
Senior program managers or other emerging leaders may also be considered if they are able to implement new ideas, strengthen partnerships, and contribute to their organization's strategy and ecosystem engagement.
Is there a cost to participate in the program?
The fee is heavily subsidized through the generous support of IDB Lab, GEN, and program partners, and includes:
- The full GET Fellows leadership program, including in-person and virtual learning sessions, expert speakers, peer networking, curated global connection opportunities, and ongoing access to the GET Fellows community and platform opportunities.
- Four nights of hotel accommodation in Quito during the GET Forum (valued at US$400).
- GET Forum registration (valued at US$400).
- Ground transportation between the official hotel and GET Forum venues.
- Event meals throughout the three-day GET Forum experience (excluding the optional opening-night curated small-group dinners, where Fellows cover the cost of their own meals).
Please note: The fellowship fee does not include airfare or transportation to and from Quito. Fellows are responsible for arranging and covering their own travel expenses, including airport transfers, as well as obtaining any required travel documents, including visas, if applicable.
A limited number of partial scholarships may be available for selected applicants based on financial need and available funding.
What does the "opt out" question mean in the scholarship section of the application form?
If you do not require financial assistance, you may opt out of scholarship consideration by selecting "Yes" to the OPT OUT question.
Selecting "Yes" indicates that you do not wish to be considered for a scholarship, confirms that you can cover the full fellowship fee if selected, and allows you to skip the remaining questions required for scholarship consideration.
Can I still participate if I am not awarded a scholarship?
Yes. Applicants who are selected for the GET Fellows program but are not awarded a scholarship are still welcome to participate by paying the one-time Fellowship fee. Selected applicants will receive instructions on how to confirm their participation and complete payment by the stated deadline.
When will applicants be notified of their selection and scholarship status? Applicants will be notified of both their fellowship selection and scholarship status in early August 2026.
Selected applicants will then have until late August 2026 to confirm their participation and complete payment of the final fellowship fee.
I work for an organization based outside Latin America and the Caribbean that supports entrepreneurial ecosystems in the region. Am I eligible to apply?
Yes. We welcome applications from professionals working for organizations headquartered outside Latin America and the Caribbean, provided their work has a significant focus on supporting entrepreneurs, entrepreneurial ecosystems, or investment networks within the region. Applicants should clearly demonstrate how their role contributes to strengthening entrepreneurship across Latin America and the Caribbean.
What is the expected time commitment?
Virtual engagements
From September 2026 through February 2027, Fellows should expect to dedicate an average of 4 hours per month to virtual engagements. Each month, Fellows will be offered multiple opportunities to engage—including learning sessions, peer networking activities, and one-on-one meetings with fellow participants, mentors, or ecosystem leaders. Fellows are expected to participate in at least one virtual engagement per month. Individual sessions typically last 90 to 120 minutes and are held during regular business hours.
During the following six months (February until August 2027), virtual engagements will become more tailored to each Fellow's interests and goals. These opportunities—including introductions, collaborative meetings, and other curated engagements—will be coordinated directly with each Fellow to accommodate their availability and scheduling.
In-person engagements
Attendance at the GET Forum in Quito (October 5–7, 2026) is an essential component of the Fellowship.
Throughout the year, and particularly during the second half of the program, Fellows may also be invited to participate in GET activations and partner events across Latin America and the Caribbean and beyond. While these opportunities are strongly encouraged as a way to expand Fellows' networks and visibility, participation is optional.
Will sessions be recorded if I cannot attend?
Since one of the primary goals of the GET Fellows program is to build lasting relationships and durable network effects, Fellows are expected to attend and actively participate in scheduled virtual sessions. The Fellowship is intentionally designed around live discussion, peer learning, and meaningful relationship building.
When appropriate, selected learning sessions may be recorded and shared with Fellows for future reference. However, interactive networking sessions, small-group discussions, mentoring activities, and other highly participatory engagements are generally not recorded.
Consistent participation is expected to fully benefit from the fellowship experience and to contribute to the strength of the GET Fellows community.
Will I receive a certificate upon completion?
Fellows who successfully complete the program will be formally recognized as members of their GET Fellows cohort and become part of the growing GET Fellows alumni community.
Rather than focusing on a certificate, the fellowship emphasizes long-term engagement. Alumni continue to have opportunities to connect with future cohorts, are invited to participate in GET initiatives and events, access curated networking opportunities, and contribute to a regional community of entrepreneurial ecosystem leaders.
Can Fellows collaborate on future GET initiatives?
Yes. GET Fellows may be invited to contribute to future GET initiatives in a variety of ways, including as advisors, facilitators, ecosystem ambassadors, or collaborators on regional projects and events. These opportunities are based on Fellows' expertise, interests, availability, and alignment with the needs of each GET initiative.
The Fellowship is designed to cultivate an active community of ecosystem leaders who continue to contribute to and benefit from the GET platform beyond their cohort year.
