One of the most significant public health problems of today’s society, both in adults and children, is obesity. It is the second most common cause of death that can be successfully prevented. Epidemiological studies indicate an alarming increase in child obesity in the past 40 years and it has increasingly been called an ‘obesity epidemic’.

The scientifically proven claim that an obese child becomes an obese adult is additionally worrisome. It is believed that 25% of obese pre-school children will become obese adults. At age 6 to 10 the rate is 50%, and over age 11 the rate is 80% for obese children who become obese adults.

Today with this pandemic that completely disrupted our lives we are more aware of importance of health – physical and mental! It’s a proven fact that obese people are more at risk of getting Covid 19 so our focus on obesity in our young adults is more crucial than ever because they are our future!

For 130 years people are coming to Crikvenica Riviera in search of wellbeing. Because of that Healthy Living by IBD Junior Camp is the first program in Croatia specialized for children and teenagers with the aim of accepting new habits and healthy lifestyle, with the support of their parents and expert team. This program is the result of 20 years’ experience in the field.

Healthy Living by IBD is a startup dedicated to improve health of young persons - entrepreneurs tomorrow. Iva Brozičević Dragičević, clinical and sport psychologist and CEO of HL by IBD believes that wider teams should come together to tackle the issue.

“My intention is to create a network of experts, parents, youth to exchange experience and best practices how to overcome this global health problem. If we want to build healthy economies we have to have healthy young people. The best time is now to start activities including education and prevention” says Iva.

That’s why we invite all who have any experience in this particular topic to join Iva this Friday at 3pm on our Zoom webinar and online consultations!
