Innovating the Future: A Conversation with Rajanish Karki, Award-Winning Technologist and Keynote Speaker

GEN: Rajanish, your journey as a technologist and innovator has been truly inspiring. Can you tell us about your background and what sparked your interest in technology?

Rajanish Karki: Thank you! My journey began with a deep curiosity about how technology can solve real-world problems. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Houston, but my passion extends far beyond that. I have always been fascinated by the intersection of software development, AI, and cloud computing, which led me to specialize in technologies like React.js, Swift, Django, Node.js, and Azure. My goal has always been to create solutions that are not just functional but also transformative.

GEN: You are the founder of an award-winning mobile and web application. What inspired you to build this, and what impact has it had?

Rajanish Karki: The inspiration came from identifying gaps in user experience and business efficiency. I wanted to build an ecosystem where mobile and web applications seamlessly integrate with vendor management systems, offering an end-to-end e-commerce solution. The application gained recognition as the Best Mobile or Web Application at a prestigious hackathon, which was a huge validation of our work. Beyond the award, it has provided businesses with an innovative way to streamline their operations and enhance customer engagement.

GEN: In addition to being a developer, you are also a keynote speaker. What are the key topics you focus on in your talks?

Rajanish Karki: I enjoy sharing my insights on technology trends, artificial intelligence, and software development. My talks focus on how businesses can leverage AI and cloud computing to scale effectively. I also emphasize the importance of cybersecurity and ethical AI practices, as these are becoming increasingly crucial in today’s digital landscape. More than just technical discussions, I aim to inspire young developers and entrepreneurs to push the boundaries of innovation.

GEN: You also manage a self-hosted server with various cloud services. Can you share more about this and why you chose to take this route?

Rajanish Karki: Running my own self-hosted server is something I take great pride in. I use an HP ProLiant server to host a suite of services, including a VPN tunneling system, a video server, and NextCloud for data storage. This has given me hands-on experience with remote login (SSH), Nginx, and various cloud deployment tools. The reason I chose to do this is simple—control and learning. By managing my own server, I gain a deeper understanding of network security, system administration, and scalability, which helps me develop more robust applications.

GEN: As someone passionate about innovation, what advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs in the tech space?

Rajanish Karki: Stay curious and never stop learning. The tech industry evolves rapidly, and keeping up with the latest frameworks and tools is essential. More importantly, focus on solving real problems. If your solution adds value, recognition and success will follow. Networking is also crucial—surround yourself with like-minded individuals who challenge and inspire you. And lastly, don’t be afraid to fail. Every setback is an opportunity to grow and refine your vision.

GEN: Looking ahead, what’s next for you? Any exciting projects in the pipeline?

Rajanish Karki: Absolutely! I am currently working on enhancing AI-driven automation in e-commerce platforms and exploring new ways to integrate blockchain technology into business applications. My goal is to continue pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in software development while mentoring and inspiring the next generation of innovators.
