The Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) seeks interns to support programs aligned with its mission to make it easier for anyone, anywhere to start and scale companies. 

The eight-week internship program offers students and young professionals unique opportunities to hone marketable job skills while making a global impact in collaboration with GEN staff and stakeholders in nearly every country.

Current Internship Opportunities

New Inventor Intern

GEN is building a community of entrepreneurs who invent new products and services from anywhere in the world. This internship program will focus on reviewing startups from Europe and the United States to select the best of the best for funding and recognition using both human and AI skills acquired on the job. 

If you think you might one day want to be an entrepreneur or work for an entrepreneur, this is an excellent way to see what entrepreneurs in 2026 are inventing and to play a vital role on a global team in selecting and working with the most promising founders. Interns graduating from the program have the opportunity to join the GEN Global Leader program.

Research and Policy Associate Intern

Startup-savvy government? When GEN first developed a website called entrepreneurship.gov some years ago, Silicon Valley laughed at the disconnect. Since then, we have been hard at work not turning government ministers into startup founders, but helping them become better educated and startup-savvy so they can advance policies that smooth the path for more people to start and scale companies.  

If you are interested in public policy and research, have a potential future interest in law or public service, this is an excellent internship opportunity. The GEN Research and Policy Internship earns GEN’s recognition as a GEN Global Leader reporting to our team in London and Paris. Interns have the opportunity to interface with policymakers around the world, keen to help address challenges such as youth unemployment by increasing local rates of new firm formation. Interns will also work on policy papers and on engaging governments in planning for GEN’s Global Entrepreneurship Congress. AI LLM, research, communication, and writing are important skills that are further enhanced through this internship.

GEN AI Intern

GEN is integrating AI into its operations to work smarter and move faster. As our AI Intern, you'll embed yourself across teams — interviewing staff, mapping workflows, and identifying where AI tools can make the biggest impact. This is a hands-on, investigative role: you won't just implement solutions, you'll help discover them. Walk away with real-world AI experience, a sharper problem-solving toolkit, and a portfolio of work that matters in today's job market.

One Global Ecosystem Intern

GEN’s One Global Ecosystem Intern graduates as a GEN Global Leader after being engaged in a targeted project that requires interface with all countries of the world in at least one way or project. For example, armed with AI agents, GEN may ask you to review and display its work history in every economy and post it on the appropriate GEN website. Alternatively, you might be asked to select and reach out to a GEN Founder in each country where GEN operates and talk with them about their current startup. Or, you might be asked to audit our investor presence in all 200 countries. This internship is perfect for someone interested in the innovation ecosystem and how it plays out across different cultures.

LATAM Intern:  Empowering Latin American Ecosystems

Join a team working with the Inter American Development Bank and gain experience in building leaders of tomorrow. The work includes helping organize programming for regional leaders in Latin America and building soft skills in community management and event planning. Knowledge of Spanish is desirable for this internship, but not required. Interns graduating from the program join the GEN Global Leader program.

Africa Intern:  Empowering Africa’s Entrepreneurs

Join a team engaging with all African countries at a conference in Cape Town in September. Learn how all the innovation ecosystems operate differently around the continent and build connections. This internship requires strong research and communication skills and is ideal for students interested in helping underserved communities maximize their full potential following the decline in international foreign aid. Interns graduating from the program join the GEN Global Leader program.

Project Europe Intern:  Engaging Europe in the Global Ecosystem

Working with GEN’s team in London and Paris, help shape Europe's engagement in the global entrepreneurial ecosystem. This position works on shaping European efforts to lead more globally in entrepreneurship in light of changes in geopolitical dynamics driven by the United States. Gain connections and experience within European startup ecosystem communities. Interns graduating from the program join the GEN Global Leader program.

Communications Intern

Interested in a career that leverages your social media experience?  Work with GEN’s comms team on applying it in professional environments.  For example, design real-world TikTok or Instagram shorts or campaigns that inspire people to consider starting companies using the hundreds of case studies available to GEN for a global campaign. Design catchy social media campaigns that catch founders' attention to compete for prizes and funding from GEN’s competitions and events. Walk away with real-world professional examples for your LinkedIn profile and portfolio.

Irreplaceable Intern:  Communicating in Communities

The combination of the AI revolution, excessive smartphone use at an early age, and the pandemic has led to a paucity of what used to be called “soft skills” – the ability to communicate confidently and lead people. This internship helps you become irreplaceable by AI by honing your communication, confidence, and storytelling to help you lead, learn, and show up in an AI-dominated world. More specifically, this intern engages with our communities in a professional environment, under the guidance of GEN, using tools such as WhatsApp Communities and groups. Translate your social savvy into marketable skills and experience that are valuable to employers and the communities you will serve in the future. Requires courage, writing skills, initiative, familiarity with LM and other AI agents, and an interest in helping drive global online engagement using traditional tools most familiar to economies around the world.

Not a Bad Idea Intern

One GEN intern will be appointed to take a product that GEN has developed and build and expand it. GEN will provide a game it has developed and invite two interns to work together in expanding sales globally. This presents an excellent “no risk except your time” opportunity to try your hand at selling a product. Each intern earns a GEN Global Leader designation for their resume.

We Want to Work With You If You...

• Are a current college/university student or recent graduate with a strong academic record
• Have an interest in entrepreneurship and/or working with global communities
• Have strong writing skills and attention to detail
• Are an independent worker, effective communicator
• Have strong cultural and interpersonal skills for working with international team members
• Are familiar with AI tools and/or have an interest in growing this skillset

Timeframe

Interns are expected to stay a minimum of eight (8) weeks with start and end dates flexible throughout the year. 40 hours per week are preferred but negotiable. The GEN team and its interns work in a fully remote environment.

Compensation

GEN is unable to offer compensation for its internships but is willing to work with students to obtain academic credit.
