The Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST) takes the lead in GEW Japan 2021!

The Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST) is an international graduate school, which conducts outstanding research and education, with global recognition.

OIST dedicates significant resources to support the transition of academic curiosity-driven research in science and technology into impactful innovation. It has established several pioneering partnerships to advance the development of the innovation ecosystem in Okinawa, such as OBI-Hub, a recently launched joint program with Japanese venture capital firm Beyond Next Ventures that supports early-stage deep-tech startups, thus proving to be an institution committed to entrepreneurship, social progress, and prosperity.

OIST is also devoted to environmental and social sustainability through its various initiatives focused on the United Nations' SDGs.

Within the context of GEW Japan 2021 and its own activities, OIST is organizing three exciting events to celebrate entrepreneurship and showcase its initiatives in the field of business and social innovation.

On November 10, OIST is organizing an open-house session to display how its facilities and resources help support innovative ideas, prototyping, starting a business, and much more.

On November 11, the Innovators Society at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology in Japan is hosting a virtual fireside chat with Paul McInerney, General Partner of Incubate Fund, a venture capital firm based in Tokyo with more than JPY50 billion under management and with a focus on investing in early-stage startup companies.

Finally, on November 12, OIST will hold an Innovation Seminar entitled: "My Entrepreneurship Journey" by Eli Lyons, CEO of GenomeMiner and Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology.

It is with great pride that we see such a leading Japanese institution taking vanguard initiatives to promote entrepreneurship in our country, and wish them great success with their events!
