The Global Entrepreneurship Network is seeking a Director for Partnerships to identify and secure new business and partnerships for the organization and all of its programs. 

Working to build one global entrepreneurial ecosystem, GEN operates a platform of projects and programs in 180 countries aimed at making it easier for anyone, anywhere to start and scale a company. By fostering deeper cross-border collaboration and initiatives between entrepreneurs, investors, researchers, policymakers and entrepreneurial support organizations, GEN works to fuel healthier start and scale ecosystems that create more jobs, educate individuals, accelerate innovation and strengthen economic growth.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES, SKILLS + QUALIFICATIONS

GEN is looking for an energetic, positive self-starter to develop strategic partnerships that will contribute to the values and mission of the organization. The Director for Partnerships manages its efforts to identify and secure new business and partnerships. As GEN’s lead for new sales, the Director for Partnerships identifies opportunities and relationships strategically important to the organization, prepares proposals and presentations, confirms and manages new partners. Guided by a strategic plan, the position works across the entire organization and reports directly to the President. 

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and secure financial and in-kind support for GEN or its programs
  • Manage new business development assets and process and staffing the Business Development Team
  • Actively recruit and manage sponsors and partners for GEN’s flagship programs such as Global Entrepreneurship Week, Global Entrepreneurship Congress, Entrepreneurship World Cup and GEN@Bloomfields
  • Light-touch opportunity scouting with program managers for all other GEN programs including:  GEN Starters Club, GEN Accelerates, GEN Invest, GEN Policy, GEN Research, GEN Space and Global Enterprise Registration.
  • Manage on-going relationships with a handful of assigned cross-program or multinational partners
  • Inform and create with Communications Team structured program partnership offerings and promotional materials

Skills + Qualifications:

  • Outgoing and confident with a positive attitude and demonstrable relationship-building skills
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills to quickly assess partnership opportunities and take immediate action
  • Experience and knowledge of startup communities and ecosystems; experience / familiarity with GEN a plus
  • Excellent communication skills, both written (including email) and oral
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office and Dropbox (instead of Google Docs and Drive), Slack, Hubspot and with learning/using new software
  • Commitment to the values, mission, model and work of the Global Entrepreneurship Network
  • Flexible team player – able to work in an environment with overlapping program areas and staff responsibilities
  • Must be completely fluent and fully proficient in English and able to communicate easily and clearly

MANAGER FOR STARTUP PROGRAMS

The Global Entrepreneurship Network is seeking a Manager for Startup Programs to run and grow GEN’s startup-facing programs.

By fostering deeper cross-border collaboration and programming for entrepreneurs, investors, researchers, policymakers and entrepreneurial support organizations, GEN works to fuel healthier start and scale ecosystems that create more jobs, accelerate innovation and strengthen economic growth.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES, SKILLS + QUALIFICATIONS

GEN is looking for a high-energy self-starter to manage day-to-day operations and further develop its key startup programs – Startup Huddle, Global Business Angels Network and GEN Starters Club.  As GEN’s lead for startup engagement, the manager will maintain and enhance the existing program materials and digital assets, engage and support the existing program community, recruit and train new local organizers and help source new strategic partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, onboard, mentor and grow a world-class community of Startup Huddle organizers
  • Actively identify, recruit and secure partners, perks and mentors to support startups across GEN’s startup programs
  • Develop and implement a community engagement strategy and calendar across each key program to include:
    • Facilitating webinars or learning sessions on a monthly basis
    • Recruiting, writing and publishing content to highlight activities publicly on a monthly basis
    • Actively moderating program Slack channels and contributing to program-related social media engagement
  • Manage program outputs developing a new process for tracking activities and progress
  • Drive ongoing program improvements based on community feedback, performance and program retrospectives
  • Maintain external-facing materials and internal core content including:
    • Onboarding videos, materials and playbook
    • Digital libraries and website content + organizer, participant and mentor tagging
    • Promotional materials to recruit sponsors, perks partners and licensees
  • Oversee program websites along with partner / local organizer engagement, applications and regularly updating relevant content in conjunction with the GEN communications team.
  • Manage the Global Business Angels Network community and coordinate quarterly leadership calls on Zoom.
  • Serve as startup liaison for the top finalists of Entrepreneurship World Cup ensuring their smooth participation in the global finals and transition to GEN Starters Club.

Skills + Qualifications:

  • Strong writing skills and excellent communication skills, both written (including email) and oral
  • Outgoing and confident with a positive attitude and demonstrable relationship-building skills
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills to quickly assess opportunities and take immediate action
  • Highly organized, attentive to details, and process-oriented
  • Experience with project management and managing volunteers.
  • Experience building and engaging communities and entrepreneurial ecosystems; experience / familiarity with GEN a plus
  • Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation, impact tracking and/or developing Key Performance Indicators a plus
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office and Dropbox (instead of Google Docs and Drive), Slack, HubSpot and with learning/using new software
