The online event, held on January 5, 2024, served as a gateway for Malagasy entrepreneurs to delve into the significant opportunities presented by this prestigious competition. The information session gathered around 24 participants online to discuss about the competition.
Organized by StartupScale360, spearheaded by CEO Swethal Kumar, in collaboration with JCI Iarivo, represented by its Local President Meva Wanda Randriamanarina, Fliptin, led by Mustapha Zaouini, and Modus Capital, with the invaluable contribution of Vianney Mahomet, the Management Committee for EWC Madagascar is composed of these forward-thinking entities. The competition is not merely a contest; it's a catalyst for fostering a culture of innovation, creativity, and economic growth.
Madagascar's Ascent to Global Entrepreneurship
Madagascar has long been a hub of untapped potential, and the Entrepreneurship World Cup aims to harness this energy by providing local entrepreneurs with a platform to showcase their ideas, gain valuable insights, and connect with a global network of mentors and investors. This isn't the first final of EWC in Madagascar; previous editions in 2019 and 2020 paved the way for this transformative event.
Since the online launch, numerous activities have unfolded to present the EWC opportunity to Malagasy startups. Ecosystem partners such as national incubators like Zafy Tody, NextA, and Orange Digital Center have played a pivotal role in raising awareness and interest among local startups. The response has been remarkable, setting the stage for a fierce competition for the final on February 24, 2024.
In a strategic move to fortify the organizational efforts, a Steering Committee has been established. Composed by Hugues Makabelo, CEO of Baobab Banque Madagascar, and Riveltd RAKOTOMALALA, Executive Director of Le Centre, this committee will work closely with the Management Committee to ensure the seamless execution of the event. This Entrepreneurship World Cup not only propels Madagascar's entrepreneurial ecosystem onto the international stage but also promises to catalyze innovation and support the endeavors of talented Malagasy entrepreneurs.
