Making Changes for Careers - Hull City of Culture

Hull will be riding the crest of a wave come 2017; its choice as the UK City of Culture will see millions attend its year of events.
The council is leading £78m of developments as part of the ten-year City Plan and 2017 Legacy Programme; a further £300m is expected through government grants and private sector support.
The Fruit Market will be resurrected as Hull’s cultural quarter, Hull New Theatre extended and the city’s public realm will be remodelled.
The private sector opportunities are growing too. The offshore wind sector remains the industrial driver for the city – which has solidified its reputation as the staging point for the renewables industry. ABLE’s development begins on the south bank and DONG Energy officially opened its 210MW Westernmost Rough scheme.
Hopes are high for East Yorkshire’s digi-tech sector too – which already supports some 60,000 jobs and is worth an estimated £7bn a year. The impressive waterfront Centre 4 Digital Innovation (C4DI) will open as a digital hub for smaller businesses in autumn and KC is now rolling out the installation of its superfast Lightstream internet.
