About Global Entrepreneurship Week UK

Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) is the world’s biggest celebration of entrepreneurship - and it started in the UK!

What is GEW? 
If you have not been involved before, GEW is a massive, annual campaign to celebrate and empower entrepreneurs in every country and community around the world - especially those individuals who face structural barriers or may have never considered the idea of launching a startup. 

GEW is 17 years old this year. Originally started by the UK Government working with the Kauffman Foundation of the US, it’s the largest annual festival of entrepreneurship activities in the world and will involve millions of people in some 200 countries. Who wouldn’t want to be part of that? 

GEN UK has been joined by the leading entrepreneurship charity the Centre for Entrepreneurs (CFE) to lead GEW in the UK from 2024 onwards.

Who is it for?
GEW is a celebration of the great ways that entrepreneurs and their businesses can find help and flourish. We are keen to hear from anyone who has any kind of startup-related activity that week (or the weeks either side!).

We will be working with national and regional media to help shine a spotlight on some of the wide and varied activities of the UK. This is an area where we excel on the global stage and we want to show the world why! Startups, entrepreneurs, schools, universities, local councils, national bodies, investors, and charities are all invited to join us – and it’s free!

So, if you have a meet-up, a workshop, a new product launch, a funding announcement, a press release or a course please add them to our calendar so we can help promote them. You can use GEW UK branding to help promote your event and we will highlight as many as we can across our social media channels and in media outreach. 

So get involved - it’s free and you will be part of a major global entrepreneurship programme! Here’s how:

  • Brand your events
    If you are planning entrepreneurship events in and around the week, please brand them as GEW events and help spread the word of the campaign.

    We will also send UK-focused materials to everyone who registers their events. 

  • Add your events to the global calendar
    This is a global activity, so there’s one site for the world with pages for UK activities.

    If you have any issues with this, let us know. If you have a lot of events to add, you
    can ask the CFE team for a bulk upload tool. 

  • Promote on social media and your marketing channels
    Use the promo toolkit above to shout about the week, your events, and other
    activities taking place during the week across your social media and marketing
    channels.
