About GEN in Montenegro

The Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) has been present in Montenegro since 2008, when the Centre for Entrepreneurship & Economic Development (CEED) emerged as the country's founding local partner, coordinating Montenegro's earliest Global Entrepreneurship Week activities. CEED partnered with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the University of Donja Gorica to host an Entrepreneurship & Youth Roundtable that brought together policymakers, educators, and young entrepreneurs to discuss ways to expand opportunities for youth-led enterprise across the country.

In more recent years, GEW 2024 was marked publicly by the U.S. Embassy in Podgorica, which highlighted the campaign alongside its own programming and U.S.-funded entrepreneurship projects in Montenegro.

GEN maintains relationships with a range of Montenegrin ecosystem stakeholders. These include the Montenegro Business Angel Network (MeBAN), a member of GEN's Global Business Angels Network represented by Ivan Jovetic; the Union of Young Entrepreneurs of Montenegro; and JA Montenegro.

GEN's ongoing priority in Montenegro is to keep connecting the country's entrepreneurs, educators, and ecosystem builders — from its youth entrepreneurship clubs in Podgorica to its national business angel network — to the training, competitions, and peer communities available through GEN's global platform.
