The Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) 2016 launches in Myanmar on November 14th - the National Holiday Full Moon Tazaungmone - with a series of talks on building Myanmar entrepreneurial ecosystem by local entrepreneurs and global partners. GEW 2016 in Myanmar is hosted by Building Markets, an award-winning non-profit that creates jobs and encourages economic growth in developing countries by finding, building, and connecting competitive local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to supply chains and investment.
Keynote speeches during the Launch of the GEW 2016 in Myanmar will be given by representatives from USAID and Myanma Awba, GEW main funding partner and diamond sponsor, respectively. USAID's funding is essential in this initial phase of establishing the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) in Myanmar and Awba is supporting ventures in rural areas to join GEW & GEN. Local entrepreneurs, U Ngwe Tun from Genius Coffee and Pyone Thet Thet from Virya Couture will present the opportunities and challenges of starting and running a business in Myanmar. Global corporate partner, Coca Cola will deliver closing remarks.
GEW 2016 Launch will open the week full of events focused on building and celebrating entrepreneurship in Myanmar. A local band called Emergency will entertain the audience after the official opening. See you at 6pm in People's Park & Square in Yangon!
