The important thing is to uplift the community through your work, that’s what makes business important. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uu8KTFRaSDQ&t=141s
The business started in 1967, next months it will be 50 years and it feels like I was not part of it, it was a rocky road. You’re grateful for what you were able to achieve. I never actually thought about a name my first thought was, you are serving people that’s why I named it Volkswinkel, “People’s Shop”, he said.
His wife says, when he was working in Windhoek he got himself a Pick-up and packed everything in there, groceries, sometimes clothes then he drove all over and the people would buy the goods.
The leftover goods I would leave with my wife, then she would sell it there. I had to register the business that’s when we opened the shop. His wife also added to say that, “I helped wherever I could”.
She put so much into it, she had to look after the kids and on top of it she worked at the shop.
“What would you do without a customer? Good customer relations are everything”.
You’re happy to be of service, you are just trying to make a living and one must work. You don’t know what tomorrow brings but you just keep going. I never thought of achieving great things, the business grew slowly.
To leave a mark is important, you have to appreciate what you have and be happy.
