Networking Essentials

With research indicating up to 70 percent of jobs aren’t advertised it’s essential to develop your networking skills. Having a good network of contacts can not only help you to secure a job but also develop and sustain your career in the longer term. Some of the key skills for networking; effective communication, research, organisation and professionalism are also essential employability skills.

 

This session aims to help you learn how to build new relationships to expand your network of professional contacts both online and in person.  

By the end of the workshop, participants will:

  • Understand why networking is important
  • Learn more about how to recognise networking opportunities 
  • Gain tips on how best to prepare for networking opportunities
  • Think about how to introduce yourself to contacts and employers, in terms of skills, experience and goals
  • Identify networking resources
