Doha, Qatar – 2 November 2020 – In celebration of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW), the Qatar Development Bank (QDB) will host Rowad Qatar, the Qatar Entrepreneurship Conference 2020 to explore Business Sustainability: My Impact on My Economy and My Country.
Regarded as Qatar's premier annual entrepreneurship event, this year's edition is sponsored by the Qatar Investment Authority (strategic sponsor), the Qatar National Bank and the National Tourism Council (platinum sponsors), Ooredoo (gold sponsor), and Qatar Chamber (honorary sponsor), in addition to a long list of national partners representing various sectors and industries. The 2020 edition of the Conference will take place over the course of five days from the 15th to the 19th of November.
With the launch of the first virtual edition of the Qatar Entrepreneurship Conference, QDB aims to highlight the importance of adapting to change by transforming the pandemic-induced challenge of holding the Conference in its traditional format into an opportunity to reach a wider audience with a virtual event that takes place on a digital platform.
Commenting on the Conference's launch, QDB’s CEO Mr. Abdulaziz Bin Nasser Al-Khalifa said: “We are pleased to announce the launch of the Qatar Entrepreneurship Conference 2020 under the theme ‘Business Sustainability: My Impact on My Economy and My Country,’ especially in light of the exceptional circumstances imposed by COVID-19. Through this initiative, we aim to enrich the entrepreneurial scene in Qatar and to further develop a cooperative network among the various actors within the ecosystem through which we can continue to exchange dialogue and expertise, and share knowledge towards serving our strategic goals and realizing Qatar's national vision and its economic diversification and sustainability goals.”
GEW celebrates entrepreneurship culture and spotlights success stories of entrepreneurs, inspiring the business community and encouraging innovation among its members in Qatar and around the globe. By celebrating the renowned global event every year, the Qatar Entrepreneurship Conference 2020 will contribute to Qatar’s economic growth by creating a vibrant business climate for emerging enterprises and aspiring entrepreneurs, and further developing an integrated ecosystem that guides them along their journey to success.
The Conference will include a series of training sessions and specialized workshops in line with QDB’s mission to develop interactive platforms for knowledge exchange between ambitious entrepreneurs, industry experts and thought leaders who represent various sectors and domains. With the participation of more than 45 industry experts and specialists in nearly 25 different workshops and several panel discussions, a large number of key sustainability topics and issues will be discussed over the five days. The Conference will bring together like-minded innovators who embrace the challenge of recognizing, developing, and leveraging entrepreneurial opportunities toward the creation of sustainable value across all four pillars of the Qatar National Vision 2030.
This year’s edition will see the announcement of the winners of both the Al Fikra Competition, in its seventh edition, and the Resilient Award for private enterprises that have successfully overcome the economic and social challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. QDB is anticipating the participation of all members of the entrepreneurship ecosystem – including business owners, institutions, and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) – and their engagement with the leading platform that it presents, towards achieving its goals and objectives.
To participate in the event, entrepreneurs and SMEs may visit the conference website (qdb.qa/en/rowad-qatar), where they can access the full agenda and additional information about its workshops and discussion panels.
