The Global Startup Ecosystem Report 2024 (GSER 2024) is a comprehensive analysis of the worldwide startup landscape, published by Startup Genome in collaboration with the Global Entrepreneurship Network. Now in its 12th year, this report provides insights into leading startup ecosystems, emerging trends, and key challenges facing entrepreneurs globally. Based on extensive research and analysis of data from 4.5 million startups across 300 global ecosystems, the GSER 2024 offers valuable perspectives on the current state of the startup economy. The report highlights significant findings, including a 46% decrease in Series A funding from 2022 to 2023, a 47% drop in large exit values, and a 58% decline in new unicorns. Despite these challenges, the report notes positive trends such as the surge in Generative AI funding, which accounted for nearly 20% of all VC funding in 2023, and the resilience of Cleantech investments. The GSER 2024 also ranks the top global ecosystems, with Silicon Valley maintaining its lead, followed by New York City and London tied for second place, providing crucial insights for entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers, and other stakeholders in the global startup community.
