Seminar and exhibition for women entrepreneurs on benefits of export in line with the African growth and opportunity Act (AGOA).

OVERVIEW

Association of Northern Women Entrepreneurs (ANWE) is a registered Non Governmental Organization that is aimed at creating awareness, training and supporting women entrepreneurs and youths in Northern Nigeria in order to improve their standards of living as well as groom and equip them with the necessary skills, information and linkages to funds to be able to improve their trades and drastically reduce poverty.

ANWE has its head office in Sokoto state and collaborates with public and private sector organizations at national and international levels.

Over the years, the number of women engaged in entrepreneurship has doubled despite high level of gender inequality and enormous barriers they face.

As part of ANWE’s efforts to support, encourage and motivate women entrepreneurs we have decided to join other entrepreneurs around the world to mark the 2019 Global entrepreneurship week in November 2019.

OBJECTIVES

The overall objective of the program is to enable women entrepreneurs learn about the opportunities available in export and encourage them to key in and benefit from the African growth and opportunity Act (AGOA). Specific objectives are:

• To bring together women entrepreneurs that are into production and processing in order to create awareness and educate them on opportunities in exports.
• To identify products that are export ready and help owners with the necessary support to improve their products               .
• To inspire and motivate women entrepreneurs to expand their market through export.
• To promote their products and support them with necessary registrations and certifications to enable them succeed.
• To provide opportunity to network with other women who are already exporting their products to share success stories.
• To provide them with the opportunity to compete and win the support package to take their products to the next level.
