Global Minimum Inc. on September 6th, 201 announced the 47 finalists for the seventh Innovate Salone competition in Sierra Leone. Building on the success of past innovation competitions in Sierra Leone, we are pleased to announce that more than 500 students contributed to over 30 applications from the five cities. All of these secondary students are proposing to solve tangible problems in their communities.
The applications as usual demonstrated passion and drive that make us very excited for the future of Sierra Leone. GEN SL Managing Director joined a panel of Judges that included David Moinina Sengeh - the Chief Innovation Officer for the Government of Sierra Leone. Each finalist team will received between $100- $200 to build a prototype for their solutions. In addition to the panel of judges, they will also be exposed to a network of local and global mentors.
GEN SL Managing and the other judges provided feedback on each of the finalist project idea. The semi-finalist below will be invited to the Innovation Camp in Bo scheduled for December 2018. During the camp, teams will be provided with seed funding, mentors and additional feedback. After the Innovation Camp, select teams have the opportunity to receive up to $500 to refine their prototypes over a course of one year.
