GEN Sierra Leone

GEN has fostered a cohesive startup ecosystem in Sierra Leone since 2010, transitioning from initial GEW campaigns to a sustained, year-round operation featuring local, national, and international support structures. Collaborating with InnoSL and other partners including the government, universities, investors, and the ESO community, GEN facilitates mentorship, funding, and policy development—including the Startup Act—while connecting founders to global opportunities through its programs and competitions. A Startup Huddle chapter operates in Freetown, GEN's community-building program centered on regular peer-driven meetups. GEN is working to position Freetown as a connective point for the wider sub-region with a focus on organizing around smart mobility for growing cities.

GLOBAL SPOTLIGHT

Entrepreneurs Thrive Here: Global Entrepreneurship Week 2026

Millions of people around the world have the ideas, talent, and ambition to build something better for themselves and their communities — but have never seen entrepreneurship as a path available to them. Global Entrepreneurship Week, taking place November 16-22, 2026, changes that. This campaign meets people where they are and connects them to the networks, tools, and support to take that first step — showing what’s possible in their own communities.
