GEN SL to run Freetown Pitch Night

SOBA partner, GEN-SL will take on full responsibility for the “Freetown Pitch Night” brand and event including event management and funding from September 2017.

Freetown Pitch Night was created to provide budding entrepreneurs in Sierra Leone the opportunity to pitch their post revenue business. At pitch night entrepreneurs provide a holistic view of their business to a vibrant Sierra Leonean entrepreneur community allowing them to market their business, solicit feedback, advice and potential partnerships.

Pitch Night objectives include:

  • Increased desirability and confidence in pursuing entrepreneurship. 
  • Avenue to provide pitch practice to entrepreneurs and role-model pitching and entrepreneurship to others.
  • Increased stability to entrepreneurship activities through consistent, monthly scheduling o Improved linkages to markets, investors, partners, customers, suppliers, business support services, and capacity developers.

 

About SOBA

Sierra Leone Opportunities for Business Action (SOBA) is a private sector development programme that uses a market systems approach to facilitate pro-poor economic growth in Sierra Leone. The programme collaborates with private sector businesses in three primary areas: (1) sustainable energy, (2) agriculture, (3) professional services and entrepreneurship markets, to trial and to scale innovative and inclusive business practices that reduce poverty and improve economic opportunities for poor women and men.The programme also provides targeted technical and financial investment with the aim of growing businesses and improving farmer and small-scale entrepreneur performance and market position.

Implemented by Adam Smith International and funded by the UK Government, programme collaborates with the private sector and investors to introduce pro-poor market innovations that result in significant and sustained economic growth for all. SOBA also works with the Government of Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI), Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food Security (MAFFS) and the Ministry of Energy (MoE).
