GEW Launch 2022; Theme: Education, Ecosystems, Inclusion, Policy!
On Monday, November 14th, the St. Lucia Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture will be launching the 15th annual Global Entrepreneurship Week. The week of activities commences on Monday 14th November and runs until Sunday 20th November 2022.
Global Entrepreneurship Week is the world’s largest celebration of innovators and job creators who launch startups that bring ideas to life, drive economic growth, and expand human welfare. Each November, for one week, entrepreneurs and innovators around the world celebrate with activities designed to bring like-minded individuals together. As the GEW community worldwide awaits the finalization of this year’s theme, the Chamber has made its move to participate in this Global Movement, the grand celebrations will take place under the theme: “Education, Ecosystems, Inclusion, Policy”.
The Executive Director of the St. Lucia Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, Mr. Brian Louisy, is of the view that the contribution of entrepreneurs across the world, including St. Lucia, should be celebrated and he pointed out that “for the past 2 years, the COVID-19 pandemic has affected and crippled economic development and affected every industry. We should be proud of the work and resilience of entrepreneurs who have worked against all odds to mitigate the drastic fallout. Their commitment to making their dreams a reality has been critical to economic and social development”.
In addition to the launch of Global Entrepreneurship Week, on Monday, November 14th, the Small Business Development Centre (SBDC) and the Ministry of Commerce will be coordinating a Training of Trainers (TOT) Workshop, on Tuesday, November 15th. The St. Lucia Youth Business Trust (SLYBT) will be hosting a Financial Literacy Webinar, on Wednesday, November 16th; the Saint Lucia Air and Seaports Authority (SLASPA) will be hosting their Import and Export: A Port's Perspective showcase.
Thursday, November 17th, will see Simple Innovations & Solutions (S.I.S) hosting the Face of Digital Transformation Seminar, while the Ministry of Commerce will also host an MSME Business Banking & Regulatory Compliance Symposium. On Friday, November 18th, Heineken Saint Lucia Ltd. will host an “Innovation Made Simple” workshop, while Advizze Consulting Inc. will host a “Sales & Marketing Tips for Entrepreneurs” seminar.
Youth Development and Empowerment Program (YDEP) will be hosting a Workshop entitled “Maximizing Your Potential.” Finally, to cap off the week of activities, SBDC and the Ministry of Commerce will host a Community Business Forum in Choiseul.
