Dakar, Senegal – The Global Entrepreneurship Network is excited to announce the opening of a new Startup Huddle chapter in Dakar, Senegal, to support the growth of the local startup community while crowdsourcing advice and support for its entrepreneurs. Dakar joins a global network of more than 60 Startup Huddle chapters worldwide, with their its event scheduled for July 4, 2026.
In addition to providing direct support to entrepreneurs, the Startup Huddle program addresses a critical element of success for all entrepreneurial ecosystems – connectivity. According to GEN research, startup communities with higher levels of local connectedness translate into an increased number of startups, and founders with high levels of connectivity grow their revenue twice as fast as those with lower levels.
“Dakar is full of talent but still lacks regular spaces for community-driven learning. Startup Huddle brings feedback, mentorship, and a collaborative dynamic that accelerates the maturity of projects. Startup Huddle helps structure the ecosystem and connect founders. Our city is experiencing rapid innovation and ecosystem growth. Young people are innovating and creating, but they need a stronger framework for collaboration. It’s the right moment to introduce a global program that strengthens collaboration,” says local organizer Papa Mayloute Ndiaye.
At each Startup Huddle event, local founders give six-minute presentations outlining challenges facing their companies. Each presentation is followed by a 20-minute conversation with an audience of peers, mentors, educators, and advisers who provide constructive criticism focused on finding solutions and increasing founder know-how. With new founders cycling through each gathering, and previous presenters joining the audience to give back, the community continues to expand while connections deepen.
“I was inspired by the desire to create a safe, supportive, and structured environment where entrepreneurs in Dakar can openly share their real challenges, receive constructive feedback, and grow their projects through collective intelligence. Dakar has enormous entrepreneurial energy, but it is often scattered. Startup Huddle offers a simple, effective, and human-centered format to connect creators and strengthen the ecosystem. Our goal is to build a strong, inclusive community where entrepreneurs gain confidence, connections, and real solutions,” Ndiaye says.
