Agripreneurs : From a Whatsapp group to a cooperative

One of the highlights of GEW this year is definately the story of how Agripreneurs moved beyond social media to something more tangible. It was started by a group of farmers who had given up formal employment for agriculture as a platform on whihc they could share experiences. Members would often post problems they were facing on their farms at various stages. They would get experience from those who had been there ebfore and get pointed to tried and tested service providers and experts who would help them. Over the course of 2015, the group has spawned other topic specific whatsapp groups that have helped both crop and animal farmers succeed. As the membership has grown, the group is now formalising into a cooperative to better organise and help their members. We are glad they are part of GEW. The group will meet formally for the first time on 6th november at 6pm at St . Francis Chapel Makerere.
