Annual pitching competition for student and graduate entrepreneurs open for entries
The Varsity Pitch Competition, created by the National Association of College & University Entrepreneurs (NACUE) and Tata, is inviting innovative young business owners to submit their pitches for the chance to win £10,000.
Now in its sixth year, the Varsity Pitch Competition 2015 will select from hundreds of digital applications from the most promising young people in the UK. The finalists will pitch before an expert panel for the title of National Student Entrepreneur and £10,000. Selected contestants will compete to win their industry category before entering the final stage to claim the national title in front of 200 entrepreneurs, investors, public figures and members of the media. The Grand Final will take place in London on Thursday 19th November during Global Entrepreneurship Week.
With over 400 applications in 2014, the Varsity Pitch Competition saw Wyre, a bitcoin payments app, fight off stiff competition to clinch the £10,000 prize. Previous winners include innovative cycling company Blaze, which has since launched its Laserlight product in three different countries and has been featured by the New York Times and CNN.
Speaking about the event, NACUE Chief Executive Johnny Luk said:
“The NACUE Varsity Pitch Competition gives students and graduates an invaluable opportunity to get their ideas in front of the people that matter. This is why it continues to attract a huge variety of applications.
Winners have used the Varsity Pitch as a platform to accelerate growth, advance product development or attract investors who attend these events. Even the opportunity to hone a pitch, gain feedback and meet like-minded entrepreneurs is a valuable experience.
“This competition provides a buoyant reminder that the UK is a bubbling hub of inventions and great ideas. We can’t wait to see the pitches.”
The NACUE Varsity Pitch Competition is open to any UK college or university students and anyone who has graduated since 2010.
