Professor Tietze leads the Innovation and Intellectual Property Management (IIPM) Laboratory at the Centre for Technology Management, University of Cambridge. His research focuses on intellectual property (IP) management for collaborative and sustainable innovation, with a particular emphasis on emerging technologies and climate change innovation.
With a background in engineering, management sciences, and business economics, Professor Tietze’s work is widely published in leading international journals.
His research themes include technology transactions, open IP strategies, patent informatics, and the future of IP management through technologies like machine learning and smart contracts. He also explores innovation processes in product service systems with a focus on sustainability.

Professor Tietze’s research has been funded by prestigious organizations such as the EU, UK research councils, and the British Council.
