Alasan Ceesay

Alasan Ceesay is a British-Gambian entrepreneur, investor, and former British Army veteran, widely recognised for his contributions to Africa’s food security and industrial development. As the Founder and CEO of Rahma Gambia Ltd and Rahma Foods, he is leading a groundbreaking transformation in The Gambia’s agro-processing industry, with a strong focus on reducing food imports and fostering local production.

With a background in international trade and business leadership, Alasan has successfully secured €20 million in investment to establish The Gambia’s first multipurpose food processing factory. The project includes mango and fruit juice production, dairy processing, and flour milling, as well as a planned 500,000-tonne tomato processing plant. These initiatives are aimed at creating jobs, empowering farmers, and strengthening the country’s economy through sustainable food manufacturing.

A graduate of Cambridge University, Alasan combines academic excellence with practical business acumen. His vision for Rahma Foods is to build a globally competitive African brand that not only meets local demand but also expands into international markets.

Beyond business, he is passionate about private sector-led economic growth, industrialisation, and fostering entrepreneurship in Africa. His efforts have positioned him as a key advocate for diaspora investment, inspiring Gambians abroad to contribute to national development.
