David Adengu – Chairperson, Board of Trustees, TEYAPI4Peace

David Adengu is the Founder and Chairperson of the Board of Trustees at TEYAPI4Peace, a nationally registered NGO headquartered in Soroti District, Eastern Uganda. Since founding the organization in 2020, David has guided its evolution from a grassroots community initiative to a fully registered national NGO, incorporated with the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) and licensed by the Uganda NGO Bureau with a five-year operational permit issued in 2022.
As Chairperson, David serves as the executive head of the organization and Board, presiding over meetings and playing a strategic leadership role in shaping and overseeing the implementation of TEYAPI4Peace’s mission. He ensures effective governance, transparency, and the smooth operation of the organization, while coordinating activities across departments and serving as a signatory to key documents and accounts. His leadership has been instrumental in mobilizing resources, forging partnerships, and expanding the organization’s reach across the Teso sub-region.
Under David’s leadership, TEYAPI4Peace has become a catalyst for youth empowerment, agricultural innovation, and educational inclusion in vulnerable communities. His work directly addresses the challenges of unemployment, poverty, and inequality by providing young people and marginalized groups with practical tools and opportunities for self-reliance.
Key Achievements and Focus Areas:
Youth and Women Skilling Program: David has championed the training of youth and young women in Soroti City in trades such as tailoring and garment cutting, carpentry and joinery, metal fabrication, motor mechanics, and hairdressing. This hands-on vocational training equips participants with the skills needed to establish their own enterprises, boosting job creation and economic resilience at the community level.
Passion Fruit Demonstration Project: Recognizing the potential of agribusiness, David initiated and supervised the establishment of four passion fruit demonstration gardens in Gweri Sub-county. These gardens have trained 120 youth and young women in planting, managing, and harvesting passion fruit crops, empowering them with the knowledge to start and sustain their own farming enterprises.
Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) Education Sponsorship: David leads an education initiative supporting 15 OVCs across primary and secondary schools in Soroti District and Soroti City. The program provides school fees, uniforms, bags, shoes, and scholastic materials, ensuring that children from the most vulnerable backgrounds can stay in school and build a path to a better future.
Through these impactful projects, David Adengu continues to drive inclusive and sustainable development in Teso Sub region, Eastern Uganda. His leadership reflects the values of entrepreneurship, innovation, and community empowerment, core to the mission of the Global Entrepreneurship Network. With a firm belief in local solutions and youth-driven progress, David remains committed to building resilient communities through education, enterprise, and grassroots leadership.
The aspect of profit in approach but non profit in purpose; where the organization is leading an approach of investing time and resources to innovate in the sector of agriculture with a focus on vegetable climate smart farming. The project seeks to empower schools in which the OVCs are enrolled to produce vegetables for the market as a means of furthering the education of OVCs. Its this that strategically places David and TEYAPI4Peace at the center of entrepreneurship, thus establishing a working relationship with Global Entrepreneurship Network is fundamental to empower the organization.
